Medical Equipment Applications

STEC Products for Medical Equipment Applications

Current trends require diagnostic equipment to offer an ever growing list of digital recording capabilities. To satisfy that growing requirement, Flash memory technology is being used within many types of medical equipment for storage of the system code or to perform data logging. STEC's flash products are ideally suited for this purpose due to their unique reliability, performance, and security features.

Medical Equipment Benefits

Data Integrity

Data integrity is an absolute necessity for storing medical information. Any single piece of information, whether it is the system code or patient information, cannot afford even the slightest bit of data loss.

STEC improves reliability of the flash media through its powerful Error Detection and Correction algorithm embedded into the card controller - lost bits become a concern of the past.

Security

Medical data is strictly confidential information that should not be easily accessible. To protect sensitive information, STEC TotalDriveProtection offers varying levels of security to protect data from unauthorized users, encrypt content, or eventually, to sanitize the drive in the most efficient way.

Portability and Interchangeability

Often, it will become necessary to carry medical information from one PC to another. STEC offers various form factors of removable flash card and semi-removable flash disk modules that can be carried by doctors and patients wherever the information is needed. The standard interface of our devices provides high level of compatibility.

BOM Control and Long-Term Availability

Often, storage systems are architected to deliver pure performance. To do this, system designers will aggregate (RAID) hundred, sometimes thousands of disk drives to raise the performance of the system to the required leveMedical devices need long product life cycles, and manufacturers require full Bill of Material control and traceability over several years. STEC implements rigorous BOM control in order to offer the customer full product traceability, long-term stability and availability, and to minimize resource-consuming re-qualification efforts.

Raw Flash components change on a yearly basis. Since we know how difficult it is for the customer to qualify new devices, STEC will notify you well in advance of any upcoming changes through our Product Change Notification (PCN) procedure. STEC can also offer you the possibility to extend product availability with extraordinary long last-time-buy period. We are also able to offer you multi-year stocking service so that you don't need to worry about fast technology changes.
