MultiMediaCard (MMC and MMCplus)

STEC Industrial Grade MMCplus cards are small, removable and non-volatile flash memories with a high performance interface.

Engineered, manufactured and tested for performance and reliability, STEC Industrial Grade MMCplus is the ideal solution for high volume applications requiring a cost-optimized storage media in a small form factor.

The MMCplus can be accessed through two interfaces. The card can operate in MMC mode or in SPI mode. While the MMC interface provides high performance and flexibility with 1-bit, 4-bit, or 8-bit data transfer, the SPI mode allows easy integration with most of today's applications.

STEC provides rigorous bill of material control as an additional guarantee for the customer, ensuring long term product stability and availability as well as minimizing product changes and qualification efforts. STEC also offers value-added services such as customized testing, software imaging, customer-specific labeling and serialization.

At the heart of each card, there is an advanced microcontroller that performs elaborate flash management including on-the-fly 4-Bytes Error Correction, Bad Block Management (BBM) and Wear Leveling. The combination of the flash management and the usage of Single Level Cell only allow extending the endurance of the memory to 2,000,000 Program/Erase cycles per block.
