STEC Flash Modules provide non-volatile, solid-state storage ideal for embedded applications. With built-in wear leveling algorithms, on-the-fly ECC, and no moving parts, Flash Modules provide superior data integrity and reliability in a compact design.

New applications for embedded flash modules are rapidly emerging due to the low cost per megabyte, lower power consumption, and inherently greater reliability than rotating hard drives. Most applications running embedded operating systems such as VxWorks, Windows, XP/embedded, and Linux don't have large data storage requirements, and a cost savings can be immediately realized. With the increasing popularity of USB and its efficient electrical and mechanical interface, embedded USB storage is the next logical step in the evolution of embedded Flash solutions. STEC's USB Flash Modules combine a standard USB 2.0 interface with the latest Single Level Cell (SLC) NAND Flash technology and Advanced Flash Management all in a convenient embedded form factor.

Controlled BOM and Traceability

Manufacturing information is laser etched into the enclosure during manufacturing, allowing for lot traceability, full access to the Bill of Materials and fast failure analysis.

Operation in Extreme Environments

The USB Flash drive is graded for both commercial and industrial temperatures, allowing device use in extreme temperatures, ranging from -40ºC to +85ºC; In addition, operation in high ESD environments is unparalleled with the ESD-rated enclosure, which is NEBS Level 3 compliant for ESD ratings, tested and approved for 15KV air and 8KV contact.

High Reliabiliy

STEC's proprietary state-of-the-art USB 2.0 flash memory controller is incorporated in the USB Flash Drive, providing high data reliability and endurance. The built-in ECC engine can detect up to 5-byte errors and correct up to 4-byte errors, while sophisticated wear leveling algorithms guarantee +2M Write/Erase Cycles. Based on SLC Flash and high quality components, the USB Flash Drive provides an unparalleled guaranteed MTBF of more than 8,000,000 hrs.

Unique Serial Number

A unique serial number is written to the device during manufacturing, making it possible to implement this feature into applications that need serialization.

Customizable

The UFD is fully customizable to add a company logo, graphic design or text, either by silk screen or laser etching. In addition, STEC offers value-added services to OEM customers, such as pre-loaded content, custom firmware, controlled Bill Of Materials, and serialization.

Standard Compliance

USB Flash Drive is USB 2.0 certified, and complies with CE requirements, FCC standards, and has been approved by the UL organization. USB Flash Drive is provided in lead-free (RoHS-6) version only.
